Ana went out of her way to make us and the children feel welcome, show us around the farm and tell us about the area. We were given a tour of the cheese factory and were shown the cows at milking time as well as being treated to a couple of bottles of the home-brewed cider. J Hyland

A beautifully restored water mill in the grounds of a working farm and only a 20-minute walk through eucalyptus woods to the nearest beach.

El Molín Pequeño is a small but beautifully restored water mill set in the grounds of a working farm but hidden from view and with a private garden. A second property, AS033 El Molín Casa, is in the same grounds, although out of view.

The farm is a haven of peace, with only the tinkle of sheep's bells by day and the crickets by night. The owners, Juan Antonio and Ana are informative on local places to visit and Asturian culture and, above all, are warm and friendly. They are happy to leave you to your own devices or be as hospitable as you wish! Ana and her son Tito make their own (very tasty) cow's and goat's cheese. With a horse, sheep, goats, cows, hens and a friendly Labrador all on the farm, children will have a lot to keep them entertained during their stay.

It's a lovely walk through eucalyptus woods to the San Antolin beach and a short car ride to four or five other beautiful beaches. The picturesque port of Llanes with its harbour cafes and Romanesque churches is a 20-minute drive away. After a day out at the beach or visiting the nearby spectacular Picos de Europa mountain range you can relax on a sunbed in the garden listening to the brook that runs nearby.

The house itself has a small but fully equipped open-plan kitchen/living room. The ground-floor twin bedroom has two large single beds together. There is easy access to this bedroom and the shower room (no steps), for people with limited mobility. The house has an attractive mezzanine floor with two single beds, but it's worth noting that this does not have a door to separate it from the living area. There's a lovely covered porch area with table and chairs for meals outside.
