An attractively restored Asturian villa set amid stunning scenery, Casa Grande de Cabrales I is a comfortable holiday base for a group or a large family to explore the Picos de Europa.

Casa Grande de Cabrales is in a peaceful spot located at the high end of Ortiguero de Cabrales, a quiet village on the way up to the Picos de Europa. The Picos are nearby and yet it is only a 20-minute drive down to the coast where there is a good selection of beaches and small coves..

The house is spacious and well-equipped and has beautiful wooden ceilings throughout, and the good-sized bedrooms all have views across to the hills. There's a large patio at the front of the house and a side terrace with a stone barbecue, table and chairs. The bedroom described as 'single' in the Accommodation section has, in fact, a small double bed (120 cm rather than the standard 135cm) so it would still accommodate two children or even two adults.

The area of Cabrales is home to the Cares Gorge, one of the most famous walking routes in Asturias, as well as Cabrales cheese, one of the most famous cheeses in Spain! It's also a great area for trout and salmon fishing. Most notably, though, it is a good place from which to access the Picos de Europa - there are plenty of walking routes with varying degrees of difficulty.

The village has a couple of bars/restaurants and shops, and a small playground for children. Arenas, 6 km away, is an attractive old town with plenty of good restaurants. It's also a centre for adventure sports - canoeing, rafting, trekking, mountain biking, quads, etc.
