Situated on a farm in one of the most beautiful valleys in Asturias, Caserío San Pedro is in full view of the Sierra del Cuera mountains and yet is less than 10 km from the coast with easy access to some of Asturias' best beaches.
Originally constructed in the 18th century, the house has been beautifully restored by Mari Paz and Jose, the proprietors, with chestnut timber ceilings throughout. Downstairs is a wonderfully inviting open-plan kitchen/diner/living room area. A wooden staircase leads up to three comfortable bedrooms, one of which opens out onto a picturesque terrace. This terrace overlooks a traditional "horreo" (an Asturian raised grain house) which has been converted into a sheltered picnic and barbecue area. An original chapel sits to the side of the house.
The proprietors, and owners of the farm, live 50m away. They run a small farm with chickens, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees. A baker comes every morning at 8.30 with bread, croissants, newspapers, etc. and one of the area's best restaurants, El Sucón, is just a kilometre away near the small village of Debodes.
The farm makes a great base for an invigorating family holiday with a short drive leading to either beach activities or mountain walks. But the Caserio de San Pedro can equally be enjoyed as a special retreat for those wishing to relax to the gentle sound of cowbells and the views across the Sierra.
The small buzzing fishing town of Llanes is nearby for those in search of livelier evenings.
