A traditional rustic house in an excellent location - close to the coast and with magnificent views of the mountains from its south-facing balcony.
La Calzada is a traditional Asturian villa recently restored to make a comfortable holiday retreat. It sits at the high end of La Borbolla - a typically Asturian village set in a picturesque valley only 5 km from the coast and the beautiful beach at Buelna. The house is south-facing and boasts uninterrupted views of the Sierra del Cuera.
La Calzada has an open-plan area downstairs with a new, fully-equipped kitchen and wood-burning stove. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, with doors to the large balcony at the front of the house. There's also a large double bedroom in the loft with views of the valley to the east.
To the front of the house there is a good-sized garden with table and chairs to enjoy the views at the foot of the mountains. There's a private drive between the house and the garden, both for the use of this house and the one next door, although the owners of the house next door rarely use it. There's also a separate parking area to the side of the house.
La Borbolla is a lively little village with a small rural primary school and a traditional bar-restaurant which serves simple meals. There are also plenty of good restaurants to choose from in the area. A baker visits the village every day and there are several other vendors visiting on a regular basis. It's a short drive away from the historic market town of Colombres, famous for the grand colonial houses built by the rich emigrants returning from Latin America. The pretty harbour town of Llanes with its medieval centre, outdoor cafes and restaurants and busy weekly market is 17 km away.
